It's been a hectic wild week. Last Wednesday evening my parents arrived from California just in time to help us move. We were pleased to have the same crew with Manny and John of Dodge Mayflower. They arrived around 8am on Thursday and Maurice and I went to Clayton for a 9am closing appointment. We had a little snag because the trustee of the lake association did not complete the assessment paperwork so we had to wait for this to be faxed to the title company. Part of the three acres we own is in the lake and the lake is owned by 4 different homeowners. This assessment is what we were waited for. Finally around 11am we had the key in our hands and went to open the house. Thursday the movers transported half of our belongings and the desk Maurice had ordered was delivered. Friday was totally nuts! The remainder of our belongings were moved from our vacation rental home. In addition we had the washer and dryer delivered, the well people to review the system, the electrician, the cable phone/internet guy, the dish installer, the hot tub moving company and two trucks with six Dowco employees all working at our new home. Pearl my mother in law and Aunt Mary also came for the day and helped unpack. At one point it was so chaotic I just got in the moving van and told the guys what room to take things to.
Things have settled down we've made great progress. Scott our electrician has been working every day at our home. He installed the 220 for the hot tub, made repairs and installed ceiling fans in all the rooms upstairs. The home had been vacant for over a year and the yard neglected. The biggest change we have made has been in the clean up. We had the lot stake surveyed and were please to see that we actually owned more waterfront than was captured. Yesterday our Dowco staff cleared out more of the lake frontage. Inside we're still unpacking and shuffling things about but now I can actually find some things. We are to the point where most of the things we need on a daily basis are in place. Somehow we lost the Dewalt drill in the move and oddly cannot seem to find that.
I took some photos yesterday, click here to see our progress.
